Cheap Fairings, Worth It?

Cheap Fairings, Worth It?
All right, I want to replace all of my fairings on my F3. The only place I have found on the web is FastFairings.com and they are like $800 for the whole set. Then there is Ebay. On Ebay I can find the whole set new for like $300. I know they are going to be cheap fairings, but how bad will it look? I have also heard that the cheap ones are tougher to put on.
I guess my qustions are, how bad will the cheap fairings look? and, Will I even be able to get them on the bike?
I would just man up and buy the OEM ones if they weren't $800. I just dont want to spend that money when I am a newer rider and I have been known to pull into an empty parking lot or 2 and practice my wheelie skills. So dropping the bike is a possibilty.

Search this forum for "Hong Kong Fairings" and you'll get a lot of threads with pictures form people who have bought them. They don't fit quite right, and you sometimes end up having to drill holes in the right spots. It's you're call on which looks worse: the current ones, or the cheapo replacements.

I am toying with the Hong Kong temptations myself. Ive probably spent a total of 15 hours trying to do research in the last few days. I'm wanting the repsol replicas and have found 3 sellers that seem ok.
Also almost all the post i find about fitment issue are of people using the 97-98 sets on a 93-96 bike. The fairings i have found are the 95/96 style and i would hope they would fit better(?).
Anyone have a good case showing the correct year fairings on a 95/96?
Here are some links to the 3 i found.
Timmy6666- had some neg reviews on other forums
Dream6625- couldn't find any reviews but some feedback suggest a good fit
lzy8600- not alot of info and even the photos show gaps not on the bike.lol
If you (or anyone else) finds any more info please share it with me. Thanks!

Yes I know they use the same frame but the seat, tail light, and rear support are different from 95/96 and 97/98. Alot of the mis-fitting bikes also have the rear grab bar holes in the HK fairings.... I don't think that would make a difference in fit but i can't find any solid evidence. And I have also heard that the f2 and f3 front ends and headlights are slightly different.
I'm just wondering if anyone has a REAL CASE of the correct fairings on the correct year?
I just laid my bike out thanks to a knuckle head running a stop sign, Its technically totaled with $4600.90 being the repair bill from the stealer ship. lol If i had the duckets to buy OEM fairings I would just buy a newer bike. ha ha ha
