cant select 1st neutral or 2nd
Hi all,
After a slow (80 mph) visit in to a bush, my 95 cbr600F3 took a slide on its left hand side, nothing was to badly damaged (I walked away) apart from all the fairings allong the left hand side destroyed and a bent gear lever,
picked the bike up and it started again but it will only selet 3, 4, 5, 6??????
cant get it in to 1st neutral or second, even managed to drive it home!!!
Can anyone shed any light on the possible problem as i cant afford to take it to a garage and im not going to start buying parts to fix it if the gearbox is f*****d,
owned in 3 years its done 25000miles and WAS imaculate so i want to fix it,
Ross

RE: cant select 1st neutral or 2nd
Hi
have a look at the gear shift shaft. The bar that goes right through the engine. While the engine is not running, move it from side to side? There should be only a small amount of play?
Let me know what you find

When the red lights go out the bull**** stops!

so you could up shift but not down shift ? check and see if its as simple as a bent shift rod that connects to the lever. mine got bent ever so slighty once i could go up in the gears but coming down was a bitch because the rod was hittin the lever when i tried to down shift but was clear when i went up...
