Default Can't get it to run right...

Hi everyone!
It's my fist bike and I had a blast all summer riding. I recently encountered a problem.
Wile I was riding I was about 20 miles from home when my bike started running funny. Anything in 3rd gear the bike sputters, won't go above 45 and it feels like it dose when it runs out of gas. I changed the fuel filter and air filter. Took the carbs apart and cleaned them. I had a ruptured vacuum piston. I thought that was it. I changed it and still the same problem. Any suggestions? I wanna fix it before I put it up for the winter.

Most likely it`s a bad battery. Good time to check your reg/rec as well, inspect the wiring and the connector for thermal damage. Might be worth to replace plugs as well but my bet is the battery.

have you checked the fuel pump?

What's a reg/rec? I haven't checked the fuel pump. I did have a wiring problem that caused it to die. No electric at all. I got it fixed and it ran fine for a day. I had to jump it once because I left the key in it. I didn't change the plugs or wires.

Regulator/rectifier. It both regulates and rectifies (changes AC curret to DC) the current coming from the alternator before it enters the battery and the electric system. IIRC it should be locater on the right side inside the tail fairing, a black box with a bunch of yellow wires coming in (and a few others as well) It has a tendency to sometimes fail, and when it does it heats up which fries the wires and the connector.

Oh. Ok. Yea that was changed already by the previous owner. It's just weird how that happens out of nowhere. I feel like its something silly...
A bike isn't like a car as far as battery goes? Needing it to just turn it on?
I didn't turn it on for a week and yesterday it started right up.

I think your fuel pump and fuel pump relay should be replaced if you haven't replaced them! These bike are notorious for bad fuel pump relays.
