Brake pads HELLPPP!
Well i took of my calipers the other day and painted them red and i drained all the break fluid. Then i pushed the pistion thing inside the caliper back and put some new pads in then i put brand new fluid inside the resiovor rear one and the front one. But now i try to push the pedals to see if my brakes will brake and they don"t. their like real loose.( especially the front ones) What am i doing wrong i cant figure it out?
Well if the brakes were good before and you just put new fluid in the master cylinder, then it sounds like you just need to pump the brakes more until they grab. If you push the piston back, the brakes won't work initially, that's why have to pump it a bunch to get it lined with the pads.
ya but he said he took caliper off to paint and drained allthe fluid then the way it sounded was is he just put everything back on then put fluid inthe reservoir? wont that mean theres alot of air to be bled out still?
I was bleading the brakes for like 15 min and the front ones still didnt catch. The back one tighten up but the front one isnt doing anything. Should i take the caliper off and see if its moving or will that mess something up?
your shouldnt need to take it all back apart. two things. it you have speed bleeders, just puta small tube on the bleeder, so it doesnt blast you when you get all the air out. once you pump and only get fluid, tighten it up and just keep pumping the brakes. odds are that you didnt get enough brakefluid on the pistons when you put it all together. just keep squeezing, it will eventually build enough pressure to pop the piston. if you dont have speed bleeders, you have to bleed them the old fashion way. either way, once you get steady fluid with no air, tighten your bleeder and keep on pumpking the brakes...
