Default Bought used F3 motor

Ready to replace that motor that was broken from leaving water in the rad over the winter... oops... won't do that again.

Getting ready to replace the motor with friend who has exp working with suzuki. Sorry, am I allowed to say that on this forum?

Are there any special tools required to remove and replace the motor? We have most of the basic tools for general maintenance. Also have the CBR F2 and F3 Haynes manual.

When I say special, I mean, available only from Honda and not easy to find on a Sunday at the local hardware store.

I'll be taking lots of pictures and will post up as we go along...

I find this helps as we forget where stuff was suppose to go...

Nope no special tools needed. I did mine with basic hand tools and wrenches.

i put my motor in without a jack, hoist, lift or anything. The motor is pretty light.

if your buddy has dropped one out of a suzy you will have no prob with your honda

Yup, What turbo said, Its pretty easy, If its your first time doing things like this, Label Youre wires and put them aside. Make sure you label your spark plug wires. Just make sure you keep track off all your bolts and you'll be fine

my previous experience with swapping any kind of motor is do like nitrodude said, and label all your wires. i found that wide masking tape (the tan looking color tape) works pretty good, and use a fine tip sharpie to write on it. that makes installation super easy. and also, it can be helpful by taking alot of pictures in a large picture setting (not 640 x 480, but the highest resolution your camera can do) before you take the old motor out, so you can have a visual reference.

Brilliant. Thanks for the replies. I'll be sure to take the advice and will take lots of pictures (in low res for uploading onto forum is better no?) for reference and perhaps may be of use. I suspect there's a few threads on the engine swap on this forum.

Hope to add some useful info and insight.

Will tackle on Saturday and hope to have it done in a day or so.

I do have basic wrenches, jack, hoist etc so with some luck we'll get it done...
