Default Bike stall out

Have 98 f3, died 2 weeks ago. Got new Batt, and regulator, ran great for a week. then in traffic idle, bike chug chug lights out. Bike acted like batt was bad clik clik no start. later bike started ran for a few minutes died. recharged batt. When on 20-30 min ride. bike idle and cuts off. bike acts like batt is dead and wont start. trailer it home batt voltage good, conector terminals tight. Is the stator bad or is it something else, I am trying everything but can't figure it out. took stator out and took to alternator shop, guy said it looked good and seemed fine to him. what would cause the bike to just die but time later start back just fine. oil good, fluids, temp stays fine. ?short between wiring harnes from regulator to alternator?

Yea, look at the rectifier where the pigtail goes in. Any signs of melting or arcing? It should last a hell of alot then a week.

yep melting on the power input end, but after only a week. Is there something else that could cause a surge of power to melt that area, Stator is good, and like mentioned a mechanic told me aftermarket Voltage R/R are crap and don't last at all, I need to get a OEM.

Now, when ur bike cutts off, do u need to regarge battery? Or is the battery fully charged and it just cuts off.....It could be your idle jet un your carbs. Run so Sea Foam fuel stabilizer, one ounce per gallon, see if it helps...its baout $8.00 at the auto parts...Sea Foam, thats what its called.

If its ur regulator thats not working ur battery would be dead (someone correct me if Im wrong)...

So if its not your idle jet then u must have some sort of electrical problem. All the regulator does is that it sort of 'translates' elcetricity so that your battery can receive it and recharge, so if it snot working then your battery wont recharge thus = dead battery.

But if your battery is fine then whats weird is that the starter is not spining....maybe weak battery? in that case could very well be regulator/charging system problem..

He may be right. Are you jumping your bike off a car? Car still running while you do it?
