Default Engine stall

Earlier today i had my engine hooked up to a test stand and got it running good except that it stalled at 2k rpm. What would happen is i would have it idling and i would rev it and when it came back down it wouldn't return to idle, it got stuck at 2k. Any input here?

Sounds like the carbs need to be cleaned and balanced.

i actually think part of this is caused by the engine running on 2 cylinders, one of the pulse thingies is bad

Started working on the engine again, still didn't run on all four cylinders, so i started going through the ignition system. I tested the coils, they're good. I tested the pulse generators, They're good. I removed the left cover and looked at the pulse generators, looked OK. I tested everything from the cdi just to make sure, still good. Went to start it, wouldn't even run on the two cylinders that it was. All it did was turn over, start, shoot a big blue flame out the header and die. Did i maybe knock something out of place when i removed the left cover? I have yet to check the spark plugs and clean the carbs

OK, so i started working on this engine some more this evening, and i found out that the outer two cylinders were the ones that were firing (touched each tube on the header, kinda hurt) and i replaced the plugs and it was doing the same thing. So then i grounded two of the old spark plugs to the engine and hooked them up the the coil for the inner cylinders and when i started the engine, they were sparking just fine. so then i hooked them back up and disconnected the outer two cylinders and thinking that its a fuel problem so i poured a little gas down the two inner carbs and it started right up but then it only ran when the choke was engaged. Is it running lean? I already know that i have to balance the carbs because they were out of balance even before i started screwing around with it. For tuning the carbs, how many needles are there for each carb and how sensitive are they?
