Default bike leaking gas, never happened before

so yesterday I travel to where my bike is stored, get it all hooked up to the battery and push it to the street. do a complete lookover and check all fluids and what not and everything is fine

so i start the bike and then noticed that a liquid was leaking on the bottom. it smells and feels like gas but it has a brownish color to it. my bike has never leaked a fluid before and it didn't leak before i put it away for the winter

the odd thing is that the bike only leaks when it's running and it leaks more as the revs increase, when the bike is off and engine isn't running nothing comes out at all

anybody have any idea off the top of their head what could be the problem?

I'm going to take off the fairings and look around sometime in the next few days

ive had this its petrol that runs down the pipes and engine collecting sh*t along the way and goes all brown you think its oil then it smells like petrol so your like whaaa, turned out to be my petcock had come loose from vibration just have a check by running a cloth around it and see if you get any petrol on it if so tighten it up, but be sensible your tightening it not ripping it off. if it comes loose again remove all petrol and use threadlock maybe a medium thread lock. also whilst your under the tank follow the petrols tubes and check their all on properly and dont seem to have residue of fliud around them.

if problem persists double check it and then check the carbs for leaks and the sump bolt to double check it isnt oil!

hope this helps.

oh and it increases with revs due to it makes a pressure difference.

so i finally got around to taking off fairings and inspecting each hose, found out that the black hose leading from the petcock is cracked and that's where the fuel is coming from.

so question is, where can i find that hose or a similar hose that I can replace it with that will not break down from gas? or is there something i can just coat the current hose with that doesn't break down from gas?

i'm seriously thinking about just taping the bastard up

on a side note, i lost my only bike key, can i get a key made from say gas tank lid or the helmet lock? i need a new key x.x

Get a new length of hose. Most any auto/motorcycle shop will have it for sale by the foot.

Fuel line is cheap and gas burns way too easy to trust some tape (that is going to fail). Had a friend that had a bike erupt into flames (gas line issue) while doing 50 burned some of his mullet (no **** he had a mullet) and completely burned off his eyebrows. A motorcycle is a great environment to ignite gas fumes. Just not worth the risk if you ask me.

just take the fuel line off and take it to an auto parts store and hand it to them and say that you need that size hose, and get a piece thats a little longer, can always trim it up.
