Default bearings

so as some of you know, ive been completely re-doing my front end lately. the time has come to start re-assembling. (fork bridge, triples..) repacked my bearings. greased up my bearing races. did an initial torque (18lbs) and the final torque (22lbs). low and behold. i have very defined areas of hang..dis assembled, re cleaned. and i can barely see notches in the frame races.

SO..i guess i get to spend either moree tim, money, or both, doing bearing work.

so bring on the suggestions! should i try to smooth out the 2 races? should i replace them? who has cheap steering bearings? i saw some on ebay, but they are not factory or even alike. they are the newer cone taper style. does anyone have these in their bike? how did/do they work?

I bet they will be pricey too from a local cycle shop. But steering components are not something to skip out or go cheap on. I hope they are decently priced

yea, thats too expensive. my local honda actually price matches most of the time. i normally get the prices from ronayers.

total for all of those there comes to 63.5.

Ronayers.com Microfiche Honda>Motorcycle>1996>CBR600F3>STEERING STEM

much better, tho i dont plan to replace the seals. mine are still good and soft. only question is do they come with upper AND lower races? i cant even find them in any fiches.

You reuse the races.

Replace the seals, if you don't the wear on the bearings could potentially be faster... and they're cheap, so do it.
