I bought this bike earlier in the year and havent really had much time to work with it but since day one I have been having issues with the charging system. Today I got around to checking the battery volts and the first time I checked it the battery was reading about 13.5V at 5K rpm I shut her off and did this test again and now it was reading into the low 12's. Once again I shut it off and this time when I tried to turn it back on there wasnt enough juice to crank the engine. Could I be lucky and just have a crappy battery or will this get fun and have to look into the regulator?

 

more likely than not its the r/r it should be at or near 14.5v at 5000 rpm. I just got a 04 gsxr unit off ebay to fix my own r/r problem it first left me stranded at devils courthouse on the blue ridge parkway last week in the pouring rain after standing in the trees for 45 minutes it stopped we wrung out our clothes and I was able to get her going in 1st gear with my brother and father pushing me.
