OK so while looking over my bike troubleshooting my previous running issue I thought I'd reset my fork settings to stock as I don't know what the previous rider had done.

That's simple enough following the service manual.

The problem I have found is that the compression screw on the right fork does not hit a stop. Just keeps screwing into the fork. The left stops and I'm able to back it off to manufacturer specs. For now I have tried to match the physical placement of the screws hoping that they will be the same.

My question really is what would cause this. From the service manual I can see that this screw is attached to the internal fork damper. Does that mean I need to source a new one or is it serviceable?

So did you keep turning it over and over and it just kept turning or did you think it wise to stop on your own and back it out some? It should stop eventually, it regulates the flow of the fork oil. Its like a little needle tip that goes in the oil flow hole, IN slows it down, OUT speeds it up. I would think maybe the tip is broke off or the top of the internal is set too low and the tip doesnt reach it. Your going to have to fix that, may as well rebuild both forks with new seals and fluid, and maybe bushings.

I screwed it in and stopped when I felt it had gone too far as I had already done the other fork.

Ah ok this is starting to get out of the realm of what I think I can do with what I have available to me in my garage at the moment.

As long as you have the service manual you should be good to go. It says in the manual how to do it, it aint bad at all. Ive done it a couple times on my 94 F2, which pretty much has almost the same forks as the F3. The biggest issue I think is hanging the bike from the ceiling with straps high enough to pull the forks down out of the clamps. If you were my neighbor I'd do it for you but............

I've managed to find some forks for a decent price on eBay. Will change the seals, bushes and oil in them then just swap over I think. Will be a good learning experience as has all the work so far on this bike to be honest. Thanks.
