Default ADViCE PLEASE!! CBR F3 as a Track bike.

I have a 97 reg CBR 600f3. I'm sick of riding on the road and don't want to get rid of my CBR. It is standard other than a stainless steel micron exhaust system, no messing about with suspension and such like.

Need advice as to how to turn my CBR into a track bike without spending a fortune, and has anyone got a CBR F3 on the track, what is it like?

You will need a better suspension for the track. Imo. If you don't have the cash test it out on the track and see how you like it. The f3 suspension isn't that bad but there's one person I know of on here with a very nice suspension setup on his f3

im keeping my bike street 100% but i am certainly bringing it to the track this summer to have a lil fun. cant the suspension be easily adjusted? Would you just make it a bit stiffer for track riding?

The rear can be adjusted.

For trackdays, it will be fine. I wouldn't worry about mods until you start exceeding its capabilities.

Cheers for your advice, had an offer from a chap I know to sort everything out for £500. I agree with K, don't want to put all my eggs in one basket, if I do **** loads of work on the bike and then end up wanting to put the bike on the road and or sell it, I might end up loosing alot of money.

Thats the one thing that ***** me about my F3......suspension. Not sure why they put preload, rebound but no compression adjustment on the front? Stupid idea. If you're a half decent rider then suspension before anything else. Obviously race glass too. Thinking of doing the same to mine after I move closer to work and no longer need a cheap commuter. I work with fibreglass, kevlar and carbon fibre so I'm gonna make my own fairings soon. I'll post pics when it finally happens.

The chap who said that he would do the work said that it would include the following:

Fairing.
Rear set pegs.
Suspension adjustments and set up for my wieght.
bung a new rear sprocket and chain on.
and change that gear ratios so they are a bit closer.

seems reasonable, just want to know if it is worth my while. I've not seen or heard of many people riding F3's on the track, probably down to the weight. I've had a look to see if i can find any local clubs, live in the midlands, but not had any luck so far.

I personally dont think weights an issue with how low the centre of gravity feels on the F3. Their dry weight is only 9kg's more than the '98 GSXR600 I had. Dont waste money on internal gear ratios (although it would be nice), just sprockets will do.
