Default 97 F3 Dashboard instruments out, no 2nd or 3rd gear

Hi! I was told to come here, that maybe you gouys could help me. Nice to meet you!

To get to the point, here's what's wrong:
While driving (engine was still cold) calmly, the dashboard instruments/lighting fell out. I thought, hey, weird, better turn homeward. Downshift to first at a stop, go back to 2nd, and it takes the gear, but it doesn't pull at all. It goes at very low RPM (by ear), and when I pull the gas, feels like it's at the end of its power, so it's really bumpy. Exhaust (arrow) sounds like it's down 10k rpm...

So in 2nd, I keep holding my clutch to pull over and check it out -> engine just drops dead while holding the clutch. Not suddenly, but you can hear the rpm dropping over a couple of seconds till it dies. Starting it again is not a problem, so I try again in 2nd, again the same issue. Drove home in first (that's a bad *** looking scooter!)

Lights still worked, first gear worked fine (allthough I didn't want to pull it into high rpm), 2nd and 3rd showing the symptons I described above.

Last oil change 300 miles ago, have driven the bike 4k miles since January, and had to change the coolant pump together with the last oil change.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I have the service manual (which I used to change the coolant pump), which tells me it could be the spark plug, fuel/air mixture or worn cilinders/pistons, but I don't really know how my dashboard comes in place there.

Any insight/experiences are appreciated!

i would say these may be seperate issue so lets start by fixing your gauges so we can see what your engine is actually doing.
i would first check the fuse box and check all fuses are still okay
next i would pull the fairing off and check the connections to your gauges
then i would check the loom for a bad earth

so 1st is fine but 2nd and 3rd it has no pull ? but the gear is fully locked in and isnt jumping out or crunching?

Thanks for your reply! Gear isn't jumping out, but before it was skipping in 2nd around 10k rpm. But never hit that high yesterday.

I'm not home this weekend, but I'll try and get the gauges running on monday, so I can see what my precious is up to :'(

Was home for half an hour, put on my working clothes, got out all my equipment, opened the fuse box, replaced the broken fuse, tried it out. Thing works like a charm.

Sorry for panicking :P Can anyone tell me how the hell my fuse/dashboard is connected to my engine itself?

Now take it for a ride as it wouldnt or shouldnt cause engine issues, i dint run a dash as its a race bike.

The gears are like old clocks gears with teeth and when those teeth wear the gears slip out of place may just need another cog or get it undercut by someone wont cost more than £100 for full gearbox
