So I am new to the 2 wheeled world leaving the drifting scene behind. I recently purchased a 97 cbr 600 and I wanted some advice from any experienced builders as I am planning on fully customizing the bike. It currently has a straight pipe with a carbon fiber Vans and Hines muffler I trimmed down to about 10 inches long. I addition, I have began rebuilding the carbs. I would like some advice about what I can eliminate, as well as where I can get some good prices on performance parts. Thanks!

I dunno that I would eliminate anything from your bike, this might be a little different from the drifting world. I think the first thing you should do is post up a pic of your bike.
As for prices I would just shop around on the usual places amazon ebay google shopper and all that. I would also just check out your local shops.
What are you trying to do with your bike?

Things to do,
Get service manual
Change fluids
-oil
-coolant
-front fork oil
-brake fluid
Change air filter
How old are the tires?
Is your cct sound good?
Things I see lots of people do
Change sprockets/chain
Rejet carbs
shorty / pazzo levers
led lights
Brake pads?
how many miles on the bike
Honestly though if this is your first bike (is it?) do the standard maintence on it and don't waste any money. You will never be riding in the to the bikes abilities on the streets unless you are doing something stupid and illegal. If you are going to race the bike its a whole different situation.
I came from a motocross racing background, and used to do tons of things to my dirt bikes, and when I got my f3, i didn't see the point in changing anything. You don't see many on the road, it runs well, and unless track racing you won't ever be pushing the bike.
Also do you have safety gear? Jackets, pants, gloves, boots, helmet, back protector, etc?
Also some flashy mods like your exhaust just make you stick out to cops.

How much louder is it after you trimmed the muffler down?
Did you add any fill or baffle to makeup what was removed(for backpressure)?
Can u post a pic?
