I think the real question is why did they change to a 5 inch rim but still run a 160 tyre?

5" wide rim affects the profile of the tire. You can put up to a 180 on the 5" rim, but it works best with a 165 Bridgestone Slick. I have used a 185 and did not like it as much.

Yes, it can be done with a 5.5" 900rr rim.

I am wanting to sell the entire kit that I have been wanting to install. I made the spacers in this article for the 900rr kit to fit. $250 shipped with all spacers, 900rr rim+ hub, but the sprocket hub needs to be ground down as is explained in above article. $25 for a machinest to complete. It will come with a racing slick with plenty of tread left(60% tread left). I need monies to complete my 637cc big bore motor(wife is in school). Help me to help you situation.
