When you had your bike apart, did you happen to notice what shape the shift drum cam is?

Did it have triangle house shaped peaks or rounded points?

97/98 does NOT use a gasket, just sealant, they changed that over as well as some other small changes.

also, I have heard it is possible to change just the shift forks with a simple pan drop in bike if you drain the bike and tip it over in the grass, however, you would have a hard time seeing the condition of the dogs I would think

The dogs were good it was just the clutch fork that was worn. Ok I got everything back but now when I put the bike in first gear and give it gas I get nothing. I thought something was funky when I had to make the clutch adjuster to the max. Any ideas?

Your gear shifter is upside down dude. The one your foot uses to change gears.

Forgot to say that when the bike is in gear the tire will spin freely even when the bike is off.
