Not really sure about your problem, but I can tell you that you do not need the carb heater hoses. You do need the air vent solenoid though! It won't run right without it.

Boblasek,
Not sure what hoses your're referring to. The air vent solenoid system and the carburetor heat tubes are two separate things. The carb heat system just takes coolant from your water pump and sends it up through water jackets in all of the carb bodies. The carbs have 4 nipples on them where the hoses attach. The carb heat system is the one you don't need. Simply runrubber hose from your water pump to the top right of the cylinder head (there's a nipple there) and you have bypassed the system. You can also unbolt the thermo valve that mounts to the top of your crankcase.
Now the air vent system is a little more complicated. You should have a routing diagram sticker ontop of your airbox lid that details where everything goes. You basically have two hoses connecting to the front of the airbox area where the two tubes from the ram air connect. There's another hose coming from the float bowl balance tubes (these are the two little circular inlets that are on the front of your fairing). All these hoses go through the air vent solenoid. It's best to go on ronayers.com or some other microfiche to see how it all goes together.
