Default 1996 CBR 600 F3 won't crank

Evening chaps

I bought my bike from a neighbour as a bit of a project, its sat for two years but did run like a charm

I've put a brand new battery in, all lights, indicators and horn work no problem

Side stand switch works

The bike also recognises neutral and not in gear

I pull the clutch in, press the start button and.... Nothing, absolutely nothing

The kill switch is not engaged

I replaced all of the fuses under the fuse cover and also the 30A fuse under the tank, is that all of them?

Any ideas and suggestions you guys have would be most appreciated, cheers

It's not uncommon for the contacts in the start switch to get corroded. Also, solder joints can sometimes break on the wires inside the switch. Check for 12v going to the start switch, as well as coming out of it when you press the start button.

Thanks for the suggestions IdoDirt,

I got the multimeter out and started tracing wires and I think I may have a bad starter solenoid, bought a new one from the internet and going to fit it when it arrives

I shorted out the existing one with a couple of screwdrivers and the bike started to turn over, also many many many sparks

I'll update when I get the new one installed

Alright so the new relay solenoid didn't change anything, starter button still does absolutely nothing

I've decided I'm going to wire in a new starter switch directly to the solenoid and avoid all safety stuff, has anyone done this before and if so how did you wire it up? I'm guessing you take a positive from battery, through new switch and then into the Yellow/Red and then Negative from the battery, through the new switch and into the Green/Red. Would this work?
