ya let us know how that fits... cuz from what I've read the location of the swing arm.. will cause a problem with the chain ... and that small of a front gear............

I couldn't get 13 cuz they said no one offered it for the bike.... so I went the biggest I could get from my supplier... 14 front 45 rear.... still a very noticeable difference over stock.. and the biggest change I'd go with personally.

If the norm in gear change is 14/45 that would give a drive ratio of 3.21 to 1. Well I've got a 48 tooth rear sprocket and if I use the stock front 15 tooth sprocket that will give me a drive ratio of 3.2 to 1 dead even. That means the drive ratios are damn near identical. That being said, will I have any problems gearing my bike like that? I've also got a 525 chain I can use to go with it.

The way I look at it the gear ratios are the same and everything should work but I don't know about and chain clearance issues or anything like that. Like I said, I have a 14 tooth front sprocket and I could put it on with the stock rear, but I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make.Let me know what you guys recommend that I do.

thanks

p.s. I'm curious to know what the difference in Rpm's will be at cruising speed, lets say 65mph. Right now my speedo reeds 5000rpm @ 65mph.

I just bought my bike a few months ago. It came with a stock front and +5 on the rear with a 520 chain. Since this is my first sport bike I have nothing else to compare it to but I can say it pulls like a motha with this set up. Speedo is WAY off, if it says I'm doing 65 I'm really going between 45 and 50. I can't remember what RPMs I'm turning but I'm guessing around 7K at highway speeds (65 mph). I'll try to remember to check on my way home from work and post it tonight.

When the speedo says I'm doing 65 tach reads 4500
75 - 5100
85 - 6200

Just got the new tires, chain and sprocket on last night. Took the bike for a ride today, and I cannot believe the difference a new set of tires has made to my bike. The old tires were pretty flat, I'm guessing from the previous owner not really taking any corners. Bike rides like a dream now.
I ended up putting the 48 tooth rear sprocket on the rear and keeping the stock front sprocket with a newer 525 chain. It does make a hell of a difference when getting on it, gets up to speed a lot faster. Only bad this is now I have no idea how fast I'm going.
The one problem I am having is gear noise between about 45-67mph, after that I can't really hear it anymore over the engine. Is this normal when changing the gearing. My chain adjustment is correct and I don't really see anything out of the ordinary. Let me know what you guys think

thanks
-Dan

Ok ive got the 13 tooth on and the chain DOES NOT touch the swingarm but i can see that im gunna have to keep up the tension of the chain because it is close and if it was to slacken quite a bit it would end up touching it.

Bike reacts just the same in the twistys i've not had no problems with it at all but when racing off from the lights i gotta watch i dont ride the clutch off the lights because the front end will lift so easily now, not had a chance to top it out yet so no idea what it does.

I just installed a -1 +2 520 conversion that I got off of ebay. Bike is quicker at the take off but I did lose some top end. This made the bike very tweaky. I did this mod cause I was felt that I was not getting enough pull out of a corner. I would enter in 2nd or 3rd but was not getting the throttle response I wanted exiting. I like the mod and it worked for what I wanted to get out of it.
