Default 04 GSXR R/R Question

I had some issues with bike dying and acting like it had a dead battery, then if i push started it and turned it off and back on it fired right up.. Some people on here said to replace the R/R... So after quite some time I did...

Put the "new" '04 GSXR R/R on today, and took it for a 5 minute ride... Afterwards it was pretty warm to the touch, is this normal?
I never touched my old one after riding..

Is there any other tests to make sure this one is functioning properly? Thank you.

Getting warm is what they do. That's why they have a large heat sink on them. It helps dissipate the heat. To check it, put a meter across your battery terminals and start the bike. You should read somewhere around 13v to 15v max between 3K and 5K RPM.

yes it is normal for reg/rec to get hot to the touch. the stock f3 reg/recs have no heat sinking on them which allows them to burn up faster. that is why the gsxr or aftermarket reg/rec is such a popular upgrade, these regs have heat sinking on them to avoid this and keep them cooler
