Default Yet another newbie thing...

Hey, everyone.

I just noted that my right (when sitting on the bike, my right... Is that considered right or left?? Hmm...) front running light is out. I thought, since the turn indicator worked, I could just replace the bulb for the other portion? I have gone over the schematic in the repair manual found on cbrextreme.com, but it shows the one screw holding it in and does not show how it is removed (no directional arrows or lines to show the path).... When I do try to remove it, it seems to big to go either way from the plastic (both being pulled out or pushed in... )... Do I need to remove all the plastic to get to it?? Do I need to replace the whole assembly, or can I just replace the bulb?

Thanks a bunch for any assist on this, as I'd love to get this taken care of asap..... I'm not sure if I'm legal running around with the running light out....

Dave

Im not positive if the plastic needs to come off, but after you remover the screw, they come out from the outside of the bike. I did mine when all of the plastics were off the bike, after it got painted.

I feel like if u can get to the screw, the housing should come right out.... its getting to the screw that might be tricky.

Thanks to you, laxcoach... Your inspiration got me from being such a girly man and trying a little harder, and it snapped out... Upon inspection (in the dark w/ a flashlight, as it's 0200 here...) I realized that there was just a little lip of plastic holding it in place, kinda like you'd snap it back in... Popped it out and all is good now... Just don't be a p**sy like me, and you'll be just fine... :-)

Well, as an FYI.... I took the old light to Wally-world and searched through the lights in their automotive section, and didn't see the same number on the bulb on any of the packaging... After a bunch of eyeballing, tho, I came across the GE 1157 12v 1157/BP2 bulb which looked exactly like the old one... It was an exact fit. All is good now.... Only $1.87 for 2 of them.... Now you know....

Just for future reference, what was the number of the old light bulb, if you remember? I don't have spares, and signals/running lights are always good things to have. -would buy the cheaper of the two at the parts store, although 1157 bulbs have been around for ages.

Thanks

The original bulb had the following on it: 1034 12V32/4CP

Drive safe.
