When i started the bike yesterday and today i have been getting a whistle type sound from the front of the motor. It sounds almost like a squeaking sound. I know its almost impossible to figure out from that what it is but thats really the only way to describe it. Its like a sqeaky hampster wheel and happens when i rev as well. also i get a slight stumble that makes a sound almost like piston slap at 1300 rpms but only when i flick the throttle really quickly. Are these two possibly related? i know this is gonna be hard but if it sounds like something you guys may know of please let me know

Exhaust leak maybe?

 

A relativly low tech way to check for a leak is to start the bike and go around each exhaust tube at the engine with a lite cigarette. Sounds silly, but it works. If you have a leak it will blow the smoke.

 

the sound you are hearing if it is what i am thinking from what you decribed is the carbs mine makes the same sound when i crack the throttle and i took it to the local shop and they told me thats what it was the carbs are venturi style carbs how they work i dunno but the make a sound similar to what your talking about when you crack the throttle really quik like

 

Thanks guys, i know i have a tiny exhaust leak coming from the head not too bad though that could be it as well as the carbs. I thought it may have been the water pump but it onl started happening in the cold. who knows when i figure it out i will definately let you know. Any other ideas also welcomed.
