Default What are my headlight replacement options?

I don't know about you guys, but I don't feel safe driving my bike at night at all. That's not cool considering I just put neons on. I am pretty sure my headlight is stock. If I want to get a top of the line light, do I have to fiddle with my regulator and whatnot?

Thanks

I'll answer your question if you can answer mine... What the hell is a "whatnot"???

J/K When the time is right I'm going to do a HID conversion, its cheap and easy to install. Less than a $100.

Well you sort of helped me answer what I meant when I said "whatnot"

I guess by whatnot I meant "will I have to do anything other than replace the bulb in my headlight?" When you say "conversion" I am guessing there is more to the process of putting HIDs on your bike than just replacing the bulb. I am interested in learning more about which HID "kits" will fit into our bike and with what amount of modification?

Anyone been through the process?

I can get HID's for cheap for our bikes. Let me know if you are interested.

Yes I am interested. I have no intentions of playing chicken with a deer, and in northeast Ohio there has been numerous occasions where I could have because of poor vision. I basically don't drive at night anymore. My area is so rural that a deer jumped out of my town's square at 10 pm. I didn't see it until the last second but was still able to avoid it with comfortable clearance luckily.

If I am driving at night, I am definitely needing new headlights. I have never installed headlights in a car or motorcycle, so it is all fresh to me but i'm sure I can handle it. I just don't want compatibility issues.

And by "cheap", what are we talking?

This is the same reason I don't ride at night where I'm from. Too rural and too many deer. For me, however, it doesn't matter how bright my light is, it won't stop deer from jumping out in the road at me.

So I internetted for a while and found good things about these DDM lights. And the price is great. Heres a link to them

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Cat...-Kits-Lighting

I am guessing our lights are single bulb high/low. I'll probably get it in the 35 watt in 6000k. Should I need anything else to get it working or will this all be compatible with my electronics?

Thanks for the help.

I have a HID on my '93 F2, get a 55w H4 Kit.

Mine is a 6.5k hid and its a little to blue for me, but the new 55w (mine being 35) are a lot brighter. I have also seen some 55w 5k that are super white and extra bright.

Our headlights are stock H4 headlights, a HID kit will plug right into the factory harness plug and then fit into the socket on the stock headlight.

Pretty easy to do, takes a little time and finding a hiding spot for the little bit of extra wire and the ballast. Probably the best thing i've done wit my bike is convert to HID, But WHATEVER you do with a HID kit, wire it to the high beam instead of the low beam.

I will have to look into this mod. Half of my commuting to work is done very early in the morning, in the dark, on deer-infested rural roads.

Where do people usually hide the ballast?
