As I stated earlier, I got the engine to crank but none of the idiot lights are working. The wiring is pretty jacked up so it may be awile before I try and crank it again. I know there is no or very little engine oil in it. It's not going to do any good to add oil if there is no oil pressure. So I'll have to see what's up with the wiring and try to crank it again later..

Talking Running f2 after 6 years of storage.

Started my 1990 f2 up after 6 years of storage. Rebuilt the carbs; new air cleaner; new spark plugs; new battery ; new r/r ; new chain and sprocket; After starting for the first time in all those years gas started pouring out of the carb! I had forgottten to close one of the carb drains. After that its all been gravy. Took the plate off the viffer and took it for a spin. ran great and pulled hard; no stumbling and very smooth. yahoo!

Woot! Woot! This is what I did to my F2 today:
Put my 2020 tabs on.
Disconnected the battery tender.
Turned on the fuel switch.
Thumbed the start button twice.
She fired right up and settled into her normal rhythmic purr.

Then I went for a ride!!!!
I'm ready to start year 25 with this bike and it's going to be a good one.

Default Finished Pulling Off The Janky Wiring

Got out this morning and finished removing the hacked up wiring harness under the seat. Whoever did the wiring didn't do that bad but it was still a hack job. Had a starter button off a tractor or something.

I removed the battery box and the tail light section. I can get in there and repair the wiring now. Put everything back where it goes and make sure it works properly.

i went back to where I picked up the bike and found the bottom of my air box. I was afraid it was thrown in the trash.
When I'm done with the wiring, I can start looking at mechanical stuff.

I bought a used wiring harness off E-bay. I only really needed two plugs for my harness. They were available on Ebay through China. Up to a two month wait for $7 worth of parts. No way I'm waiting that long.

Guess I am waiting that long. The used harness i bought was missing the rec/reg plug. Damn.

Went ahead and ordered a couple of plugs each along with 2 starter relays and 2 rec/reg. the rec/regs come with new plugs.

Need a rubber mount for my Ignition Control Module.

I've replaced the accelerator cable and I'm having trouble finding the return cable B.

Is it very important that you use cable B?

I would say yes. It closes the throttle and a stuck throttle would be very bad.
