Default Ways to shred some weight?

Hi everyone, i stopped by Razee's motorcycle shop in Kingston, RI the other day and saw the famous ducati desmosedici rr (70k bike). its pretty sick looking and all, the carbon littering the entire bike, the insanely huge brembo's that could stop a train. but one thing i deffiently wasnt impressed by..... the weight. even with all that carbon the specs sheet says it weighs around 370lbs. i expected something a little less. i feel with a little bit of upgrades our bikes could linger around 400 right?? im not saying that we could be as fast as the 200 hp ducati. but what can we do to lighten our bikes?

Loose the fairings, go carbon fiber on everything possible, get light rims, trim the exhaust, only fill the tank to half. lol

When all else fails hook up some nitrous and thatlll get you going. haha

Loose the fairings, yes, but its not sure that you'll go any faster then, cus the aerodynamic effect will not be present anymore

This is true. I forgot about that and it affects me everytime i ride. lol

I dont have a right lower and when i did hae one the power, and acceleration seemed so much greater. Makes a big difference.

Switch to a lower fat diet and start doing some form of aerobic excercise. Try 30 minutes every other day and slowly work up from there. A lot of people forget that it's not just the weight of the bike rolling down the street.

That reminds me of when my step dad 250lbs+ sat on my bike. Im 140 soaking wet with gear. Anyways he sat on my bike and took it for a quick spin since im a nice guy and he came back and said i should adjust the rear cause its a little saggy. I said yeah thats what sittin around and not doin anything does to these. haha

I dont think he got it. still funny though!

I own a 2002 yzf426 dirtbike. I recall somebody on the Yamaha forums spending 10k + to get his bike really light, I'm talking swapping every bolt to titanium , smaller calipers, really crazy stuff. After all this money had been spent, he compared his bike to a brand new yzf450 dirtbike, and guess what, the new bike was lighter.

So all in all, don't spend huge amounts of money to get your old dinosaur down to where a modern bike will weigh, just buy the new bike.

There isn't very many "bonus parts" on bikes you can throw away without certain problems, such as removing fairing, but causing an overall lower top speed due to more aerodynamic drag

Go to the gym... thats the only way you can really compare to it... 140lb on a f2 is almost equal to a person riding that other bike weighing 250
