Default Voltage regulator

Hi guys,

Was out riding yesterday and stopped turned the bike off and a little while later i went to start it again, and i had nothing, not even a click from the starter just super dim lights. A couple of seconds later i smelled burning plastic, i whiped off the rear plastics to discover that my voltage regulator was melting before my eyes. ARG!! so took of the seat and disconnected the battery as fast as i could. I had a similar problem last fall but thought it was the battery, so i replaced that and it was fine for a while until yesterday. Anyone have a working regulator they want to part with? Anyone else ever had this happen to them? Oh yea another question, are all regulators made the same? i.e put out the same voltages? Is this a problem component that could be replaced with a more reliable regulator from a different bike?

i had pretty much the same problem that ur having now, and it was the regulator/rectifier. I got my new one off of ebay for pretty cheap and its been workin just fine for me. Also i know i've heard some people say that the regulators on some suzukis are the same and are a lot more reliable than the oem honda ones.

I recently replaced my RR with an aftermarket one from ebay that had cooling fins and a large aluminum back to help disipate heat to the frame. I have also seen posts on here that put an RR from a GSX-R on an F2...but that involves cross-wiring and soldering because it is not the same 'plug'.
