Default RE: Vacuum System question

The service manual calls that an Evaporative Emission Carbureutor Air Vent Control Valve. The pictures show no hose going from the left side, but do show a hose coming off the right side and apparently connecting to the fuel valve vacuum tube.

That connection appears to be the same for California engines as well as 49 state engines.

Default Vacuum System question

Anyone know if there is a hose that connects to the nipple on the left side of the pictured solenoid? Thanks.

Thanks Mike. For reference, what section of the manual is the vacuum system?

The other dilemma I am in is the bike only starts on a full choke and any sort of throttle given to it makes the bike bog and die. It will not idle or run off the choke hot or cold.

Do you have the fuel shut off turned on? I always forget to turn the fuel back on after I shut it off. I can start the bike and ride to the corner, then I give it gas and it dies. Starts right up with chocke on, give it gas and it dies. I did this for 5 minutes 2 weeks ago before I realized what I had done.

The pictures are in section 1 IIRC. (1-23 or 25 comes to mind, but don't quote me on that ) All they show are pictures with names of each component/hose. It's kind of hard to tell on some stuff, but the drawing is just good enough.

As embarressing as it is, I think you are right about the shutoff. I've never had plastics on the bike and had it on the off position that I thought was the on position. For shame!...Thanks for the great insight btw. I'll throw the bike back together and let you know.

Well it now idles (kind of lumpy) on the choke but still bogs out under any kind of throttle. Once I get it out of the low revs, it is possible to rev it on the higher end. Summary: Bogs and dies under low throttle...Ideas? Thanks.

In the manual, these are the possibly causes for Engine Stalls, Hard to Start, Rough Idling.

Fuel Line resrtricted
ignition malfunction
Fuel mixture too lean/rich
Fuel contaminated/deteriorated
Intake air leak
idle speed misadjusted
float level misadjusted
fuel tank breather tube clogged
pilot screw misadjusted
slow circuit or starting enrichment circuit clogged

Uner engine won't start, it lists many of the same causes, ie hoses clogged and carb problems.
