And they're off!!
I've had a slow leak in the front tire since I've had this bike. No big deal I'm not riding it yet so I've got time. Well, today I decided to take my air can and my front wheel/tire to Les Schwab(Local/regional tire dealer) to put air in both. I decided to put air in the tire and see if it was the Schrader valve. I took it out and replaced it with a new one.
I get to Les Schwab and the young man that helps me tells me he used to work in a bike shop. Hmmm! me thinks. He asks if I want him to put it in the dunk tank. I say OK. He decides to pull the tire off the rim as he thinks it's some crap in the bead sealing area. I'm not arguing. He pulls it off and we find a spot that has a crease/cut in it. He says it's no problem 'cuz they have some kind of goop they can put on it to make it seal. Anyway..............
He tells me he can send my wheels off to Prineville Oregon, where their corporate HQ is, and have them power coated. I'm like YEAH! inside. So I ask how much. He says about $70 a wheel.
The other guy I dealt with told me he had his done, Repsol orange, on a Yamaha no less and he said they looked great and are tough as all Hell. He said he dropped one of his on the concrete and it didn't even chip. SOLD!
Color? you ask? I'm gonna get booed by more than a few of you here but I'm going with the original, stock white. Lol! My bike is black and white man, black and white! I'm thinking about putting black tape on the wheels too.
