Default temp gauge

I have noticed my temp guage doesn't seem to be working, the light comes on and it moves just a tad when the bike is started, just to get it off the pin that holds it, but when the fan kicks on, its still in the same position. I've searched a bit on here and found a few suggestions on the sensor or the guage itself. I plan to look for the sensor this afternoon I just wanted to confirm that the sensor is under the gas tank? That's what I've found in my clymer manual, correct? I ask, as I have noticed some sort of sensor on the front of my radiator, the left side, any idea what that sensor is?

Thanks in advance,

-Ian

Ok, so I pulled the gas tank off today, along with the air box, down to the bare carbs, but could not find the thermo sensor that the manual talks about, so, I'm kinda at a loss, not sure where to look for this sensor at, any ideas?

Thanks,

-Ian

Isn't it on the back of the water pump? (cylinder head)

Thanks Hershey, I looked all over in that area, for the sensor, I'll have to pull the tank off again in the near future and take another look for it, I'm guessing that sensor needs replacing.....

Thanks again for your help,

-Ian

Just an update, I found the issue....the wire from the sensor towards the gauge was cut....I fixed it and presto, the temp gauge is now working perfectly....
