Is a 5/16” The same as M8-1.25 for a Tap to to tap the fuel bowl on carb of CBR600F2 94

Do know what tap I would need for for 5.16” by any chance

You need the tap for whatever size it is. It should be metric. Use the plug to size up the correct tap.

The bolts for the float bowl should be 5x16 - that is 5mm diameter by 16mm long.
They are metric. 5mm bolts usually have a .8 pitch.
So the tap you need would be a 5mm x 0.8 tap.

However, carbs are cast from cheap pot metals. They are soft.
So my first choice would be to use a thread chaser to clean out the threads, instead of a tap and cutting new ones.
If that doesn't work, you can always try tapping later, but you might need to go up to a 6mm tap in that case.

Is that the size for the bolts that hold the bowl on or the drain bolt? I was under the impression he was sizing up the drain, if there even is one now that I think about it.

The way I read it in another thread, it was the bowl bolts, not the bowl drain to which he was referring. I could be wrong in that though.

Bowl needs taping soz for confusion just about to try chasing them first if that fails I will tap thanks for help

To clarify, is it the fasters that secure the bowl to the carb body or is it the drain plug on the bowl?
