Signs of a bad petcock.

Signs of a bad petcock.
I have a issue with my 93 not idling without the choke off. Troubleshooting the petcock with the fuel shut-off in the on and reserve position, I read in a manual that I should have a steady steam of fuel.
Need less to say, nothing comes out. Is this part bad?
Thanks

I'll also state this while I'm at it. The carbs were cleaned and jetted last year from the bike sitting up a couple of years. So when I recieved the bike back it ran great, but around 12k it would start to misfire/sputter. My bike was always kept in a controlled environment. I didn't ride for a month or two prior to storage, is when it began the idling issues. Also the plugs are new and tank filled with new gas. So I'm assuming possible clogged fuel filter, line's or the petcock. Oh! I remember prior to service the fuel shut-off *** was hard as crap to turn in the different positions, hope this helps.
Thanks for the responds.

with the side fairings off and plenty of rags in place leave the vacuum line on the #1 cylinder and turn the gas on and crank the bike over a few times with the main fuel line off of the petcock note if and how the gas flows.there is a rubber plunger within the petcock that can get stuck or obstructed if your fuel doesnt flow right take the petcock off and inspect it.
