Running problem 10% of the time.
Got my bike a few months ago, and other than one slight problem it runs absolutely fine.
The problem? Well sometimes (roughly once a week) I'll go to start it up. Starts fine. When it gets up to running temperature the rpms slowly start dropping down until the engine cuts out. If you give it any throttle this just drops it even faster.
At first I thought it was the idle speed cable as each time I've done it I've unscrewed the idle speed cable, done it all back up and the engine has started. I've taken to adjusting the cable every day in the past week though to check it wasn't coming unscrewed and yet it still did the same thing this morning.
Any ideas as to what could be the problem here please because other than this once a week problem it runs absolutely fine. And when I do get it started after this it runs fine. It's just a pain as I never know when it's going to do it and I'll have to spend 20 minutes fiddling with the cable before it's happy again.

Check the voltage regulator under the seat on the right side?
My problem was my regulator and I was running off the battery, your problem is probably different but the regulator is easy to get to and not too hard to check with right tools.

Thanks, I actually ordered one last week that I'm waiting to arrive as I'd read through the other topics and it seemed a common fault. It just seems weird that the regulator would cause this but I'll find out when it arrives and I put it on! Thanks for the advice.
Sounds electrical. Do you lose tach, lights, turn signals, etc. when this happens? When the battery starts going, it'll do just what you said your's does. Maybe it's a lose battery cable or something like that.
Nope, electrics are all fine. Can hear the starter turning over too. Battery goes if you try too long and don't get it started of course but other than that all is good. And it is only about once a week it does this. Runs perfectly fine the rest of the time. I've ordered that regulator and if that doesn't fix it the next thing was going to be a battery. It just confuses me why it does it as when it does start going it runs perfect until the next time.
