Rear wheel upgrade.

Rear wheel upgrade.
Hi every one
Need some detailed tech advice on upgrading my rear wheel on my F2 91
From the stock to a fire blades 900 rear.
Know it can be done.
Heard lots of talk about. Googled it and got lots more talk about it lacking spec details etc. and a lot of broken links about it.
So does any one know where there is a detailed description of how it may be done, with drawings and specs etc.
any pointers and links would be appreciated.
Thanks
James

Check Koko's thread here:
My CBR600F2 and his evolution
At the bottom of page 5, he begins talking about the wheel swap, finishin on page 6, and he still has links to the PDF drawings of the spacers used.
Unfortunately, his racebiketuning website, that has listings for his various projects, generates a 404 error when you try to go to the F2 project link... maybe you could message him, and find out more information.
Another guy who fit a wider wheel, which I do belive was also from a 900, is pmb5 on this forum, whom I belive is Phil Belkin from the UK - his blog site is here:
GSXR 750 Thunderbike
Just scroll down to the first entry for October, at the bottom, and work your way up from the bottom to top of each page, to see what all he's done - the title of the blog says "GSXR 750 Thunderbike", but that's because he recently changed from the F2 to the Suzuki - the blog still contains all the F2 entries, I belive.
His thread on this forum is listed below, which makes for a little interesting reading, though all the real info is in the blog... once again, you could always try contacting him for specifics.

No problem... for what it's worth, though, if you're just wanting a slightly wider tire, a very simple and painless swap, requiring no machine work, is to go up to a 5 inch F3 rear wheel, where you can safely run a 170 street tire, and if you're racing, use a 165 rear slick.
Good luck, whichever way you go!

I found something! All you hear is dont put a 180 on a F2 or F3 rear wheel. I've been reading all my old mid 90's Motorcyclist and SportRider magazines. Who remembers the Bimota V-Due 500cc two stroke v-twin sportbike. They're going on and on how great it handle blablabla etc. Then I read the specs 5 inch wide rear wheel with 180/55. Maybe that peticuliar tire was made for a 5 inch wheel, who knows. Just thought I'd say something.

Yeah, there's endless debate about whether or not a 180 is safe for the F2, even if on a 5 inch rim, and all I can say is, if it's just for look, and the riding is not going to be that aggressive, then sure, why not.
The only experience I personally had with a 180 rear on an F2, was a bike belonging to a friend of mine, that I test rode a few times, with the plan to purchase it - I did ride it pretty agressively on some twisty bits, and didn't experince too much trouble with turn-in and general handling, but I did slide the front a touch here and there, when cornering pretty hard, and that was not riding it "all out" on track.
It is worth noting, though, that I have no idea how the suspension was setup on that bike, so whether or not there are proper adjustments that could be made, to "balance things out", I definitely did not experiment with such.
For me, for racing, it really doesn't matter anyway, as Dunlop does not have tire offerings for a 180 anyway - it jumps from 165 (what I run) to 190.
