Default oil problems

i went on a trip for a few days and when i came backi started up my bike, but the engine had rattling coming out of it and the oil light was on. i turned it off immidetly and checked the oil levels.

oil levles looked good, the oil filter was on snug, and the oil plug was on tight but it did have some oil around it, so maybe a little leak there.

anyone have any other ideas to toss into the mix so i know where to look?

Where within the motor is the rattling coming from?

Cylinder head?

CCT?

Bottom?

Do you do wheelies?

sounds to me as if its coming out of the cylinder head, i dont really want to turn it back on and check if you know what i mean.

and thats a negitive on the wheelies.

it was running smoothly before i left and when i came back 3-4 days later its having this problem.

so i dont know how anything could be broken.

maybe water got in it or it clogged?

i leave my bike outside under a motorcycle cover.

oil change didnt fix it.

the oil levels are good, the filter is new and not clogged. no water or coolant in my oil, idk whats wrong with it, how can this happen in three days of not even using it?

anyone have ANY ideas or solutions?
give me some more info on the cct also. what does it sound like if it goes bad and what does it do exactly? or how would it have gone bad?

You'll have clattering on the riders' right side of the motor when the cct goes bad. It's common on Honda CBRs and is a 50 dollar fix.

If you are worried about the engine starving for oil you can pull the valve cover and see if there is oil pumped to the top of the head while trying to start the bike. if so then the oil pump is working and the internal parts should be adequately oiled. Hope its not a catastrophic failure in the engine, but if so atleast the damage hasnt occurred under power destroying the entire engine. Good luck.

turns out the clicking was coming from the valve train.

and it just fixed itself?

maybe it just took awhile to push the oil up into the valves?

anyways, shes running good again.

Do you have the stock cam chain tensioner? (have you ever replaced it?)

It's probably on its way out... Look up an APE CCT on eBay, get yourself one for $50 and catch it before it gets really bad and annoying...
