Noise coming from front end
I have a 92 cbr600F2. About a 3 weeks ago i started hearing a squeaking sound coming from my front end, it went away. Now a couple days ago it came back and it wont go away, its not a constent squeak, it like squeak, squeak, squeak, loud and sounds bad. I thought one of the front brake disks were warped, I took the calipers off and both side looked evenly worn. So i took it for a spin and didnt use the front brakes at all, when i stopped, both disks were cool to the touch. Any ideas??? my buddy said maybe the bearing?? Any and all help would be appreciated.
i think they are like 30 bucks pretty much anywhere. www.denniskirk.com, www.bikebandit.com. Super simple. They are prepacked bearings. pretty much pop em out put em in. Just take off your front wheel you will see them there.

Is there a how to on here that would show to tell me how to exactly do this?? Or is it pretty easy and obvious once i get the wheel off? And how would you keep the bike up while i take the wheel off? any ideas??[/blockquote]

also, how bad would it be on the bike to ride it to school and about....about 1/2 miles away. Will riding it mess anything up or will i just get annoyed by the squeaking sound?? Would you advise keeping off it until i get it fixed?
It is pretty simple. I have a motorcycle jack that i use but i understand you could use an old tire underneath the exhaust to prop it up maybe have a buddy help you out with that...unless of course you have a front stand. They are super easy. once you unbolt the nut on the axle i want to say its a 24mil but dont quote me, once thats done there are two pinch bolts on each leg loosen those. on the opposite side of the axle there is about 2 inches that stick out and have a hole in the center. just stick a phillips head screwdriver in there and rock it back and forth until you can pull the axle out and the front wheel will come right off. You shouldnt have to take of the brake calipers but it would probably make installation a bit easier. anyways the bearings are on either side of the wheel where the axle passes through. just pop those suckers out. If you dont know what they are you will figure it out quick once you compare the new ones to the ones in your wheel. thats pretty much it. when you reassemble just smear some bearing grease on the axle (4 bucks auto store) and slide it back in.
I wouldnt ride it TOO much at all. i would think worse case scenario that wheel starts moving around pretty good. if you arent noticing your handling affected a 1/2 mile probably wont be that bad.

You may want to invest in a manual too if you dont already have one.
