Sounds like a good idea. Don't see any reason that wouldn't work. Keep me posted on how it goes, I may look into doing it myself(or even better, supply you with the parts and you do it for me...lol)
Something to think about, when you go to the machinist, take the f2 bearings. That might be helpful to him???

If and when it happens I will let you know. As you mention, between the front wheel, and front end setup, the parts will run about $600 with shipping to me. Not sure what the machinist will cost, but I should have a few friends who have a metal lathe.
I also realized last night that I will lose the speedo drive, so I need to take some measurements from a bike that has everything installed. If there is room, I would have to also machine a new front axle that steps down to the proper size for the speedo housing, and then add a pinch sleeve to the fork so that everything can still be tightened up.
I tell you what, after thinking about all the hurdles of just doing the front end, I have to give you a lot more credit than I originally did. The amount of trial and error and measuring must have left you with a pile of notes 3" thick.
