My first, and hopefuly last, off
I was coming home from helping my buddy put his Supra back together out in the sticks. It was foggy as ****, dark and probably my stupid mistake I locked my visor in the down position. After coming around a high speed corner and avoiding the truck that was half in my lane and coming at me, I let out a sigh of relief and was about to be back on my way when the inside of the visor completely fogged up, I mean completely. I have a 55W 3,000K HID headlight and I could barely tell it was on through the stupid thing. So I try to flip it up, but my genius locked it so it wouldn't go up, then panic sets in. I jump hard on the brakes, dump gears like bad girlfriends, desperately try to see anything, and sit up all the way to put the helmet with all the vents open into the full airstream. At this point I just barely make out the white line, try to turn but not good enough, dirt shoulder HERE I COME! Rode out the shoulder for about 50 feet until the back brake locked up and the tail kicked out to the right into the wet grass (fog/dew), whole bike into the grass, tail right, then left then right, then almost straight, then right again .... too far right. Off into the ditch I go, I did at least three somersaults (actually felt more like an amusement park ride than anything), stopped sitting up with my feet in front of me. Quick battle check, hands... work, feet... work, brain... never worked in the first place, no loss. Pick the bike back up ... no damage! On my way home I went, with my visor cracked open and unlocked.
Now to the point of this rant. I have riiden in simmilar conditions with my old helmet (KBC Road Warrior) and have not experienced any where near the anount of fogging my new helmet (HJC FS-15) has. Is this a normal issue, or is this something I should look into? I love the new helmet, better in every way (except for the fogging issue, it fogs up so easily and constantly). Is this maybe a build quality thing, the KBC maybe does not seal as well as the HJC, causing the difference in fogging? Secondly, what is the point of the visor lock on the HJC? I assume (yes I know what that means) it is to keep the visor down when I take a tumble, but if it prevents me from opening the helmet in the event of a sudden fog up I am not going to use it any more.

Jesus man, that's a frightening tale all right! Glad you and bike came out unscathed. Miraculous!
I've never had a lid with a visor lock. If I did I din't think I'd use it at all as I find myself cracking the visor open pretty regularly while riding in any condition.
I made an alteration to my visor mechanism so that is would hold open in any position regardless of air pressure and it works perfectly. This also means it stays shut when I want it to.
Here in the UK when the weather gets humid/cold fogging on the inside of the visor is a regular event. I've just learnt to live with it but having the visor cracked open that little bit stops it happening.
God luck. Ride safe. I hope that really is your last off.

I have an HJC that has a lock, and I never bother to use it. It does fog up on me sometimes, but I just crack it a bit and it goes away.
Also, RainX makes an anti-fog for windsheilds. I'm thinking about giving it a try on the inside of my visor.
Glad to hear you and the bike are ok! I love how people can take a somewhat nasty spill and drive away from it. I drop my bike in the driveway and I have coolant leaking all over the place lol.

There's a visor lock on my JR RKT101. I've never been able to fathom a reason to use it. It doesn't lock the visor in any one position except closed. And while I've had the wind snap it shut before I've never had it snap it open
Eventually there will be a condition under which every helmet fogs. Got caught in a downpour on a really hot day and my visor fogged up. So did my bike's windshield
