Depending on how hard I ride, or how much I am in stop and go traffiic, I average about 45 mpg.

On the highway, sometimes 50 or more, with the wind at my back.

I commute ~33 (mostly highway @ 80mph) miles r/t each day and average 46 mpg (~165 miles before reserve -- furthest I've pushed it on reserve is 186 and put just under 4.1 gallons in it). This is with a K&N and V&H pipe (stock jetting AFAIK). Prior to the K&N I was averaging 41-42. And, as others have stated, the right hand plays a big role in fuel consumption.

I just did a trip to the other side of the state over a mountain pass- 150 miles each way.. on the way over, I averaged 40 mpg, on the way back I averaged 50 mpg. Not sure what the difference was, speed and throttle use was fairly consistant. (80-100 most of the way )

I ran some seafoam through tonight, hopefully I see some improvements!

I get about 160-180 depending on how aggressive I ride.... Found out what it is like to run the main tank empty, in traffic no less.. I had only had my 94 F2 about one month. Freaked me out.. then I realized i was out of gas on main and flipped the switch and felt like such a damned noob.

LOL...Happened to me 2 weeks ago, I was coming up to a red light (freezing cold at about 5:30 in the morning) as I was braking the oil light came on. I was like nuts...what is wrong. So the light changed and go to start...I didn't even notice the bike wasn't running. So I pushed it into a turn lane and switched to reserve....crank crank crank...then finally it kicked in. I knew my tank was low...but had not concept on how far it would have lasted me. I was expecting to feel a studdering or something. I guess it was just because of the braking when it died I didn't notice it because I wasn't giving it gas.

the lowest for me was about 100 and best to date is 160 on the dot before I switched to reserve.

Heres a good question, what the reserve **** settings on our bikes? From my current understanding, it's pointing up for on, middle is off, and down is reserve?

RES

OFF

ON

There should be a sticker stating above. It migh subsitute ON with Main or Pri (standing for Prime). http://www.dansmc.com/gastank.htm

On an F2, the On is down and the Res is up.
