lost the keys to my F2 and want to replace my gas cap cheaply.

looking at the knockoffs of the vortex cap system. they sell for like $ 30 i'm wondering if anyone has bought one and how they like it?

 

I just unscrewed my gas cap disassembled the lock and pulled out the tumblers, that way it still 'locks' but i can use a blank key to open it.

 

Same here. It works great and looks stock. Plus, its free! Theres a how to for this mod in the how to's forum here.

 

The trick is getting the cap off, I think it locks to the flange on the tank so even un-screwing won't release it. You might see if the dealership will go thru there keys to find the one that fits your bike and buy one of those. And write the number on the key down!

use a drill. slowly increase the size from the smallest that will fit, to the largest, turning as if to screw a screw in,
and eventually it will open.

from there, do the mod in my sig to make it keyless
