Default just quit

just bought bike maybe stupid me but anyway owner said it just quit on him.he took it to a repair shop and they found a huge mouse nest in the air filter. i think it was in front of filter but owner says it was running good before it quit on him.the shop took out mose nest and did a compression test and said 2 and 4 cylinders were getting little to none compression.they told him they would relace engine for 2000.00 or maybe if he cleans it up good it might run.dont make any sense to me.he said when it quit he tried starting it again and it wanted to kick over but would not.can anyone please give me some direction or do i have a headache on my hands.

I dont know. Most any modern I-4 is a pretty resiliant motor. It takes a lot to hurt them. I would do a comp test yourself and see what you come up with. It is possible i suppose, but to not get ANY compression from 2 cyclinders? I'd do it yourself. Check simple things like fuel supply getting to the carbs, spark getting to the plugs. A motor needs 4 things to fire/ Fuel, Air, Compression, Spark. Then they have to happen at just the right time. See which one isnt happening starting with what ever is easiest for you to test and work your way down. Good luck.
