Default just quit

hello, just bought 94 f2 that just quit on guy as he was riding he had it at a shop which told him he was getting little to no compression from the 2 and 4 cylinder.the just wanted to replace engine for 2000.00 dollars. things did not sound right.the engine turns freely but the battery died. he said right before it quit he heard some rattling noise from engine area.i did not have chance yet to check fuel and spark.can anybody please tell me for what i am in for ,thanks

Hey:

That seems like a lot of cash, but depends on where you are from for one. Need a few more details to really
help you though.
If it was me I would consider an cbr600F3 motor or an 900rr as they can be made to fit and there is a
few guys here whom have done this. I had an 97 f3 motor in my f2 and it was a pretty good swap.
you can find a wrecked f3 or 900rr reasonbly priced or mod the f2 motor as they have a lot of hi perf parts
out for them for 2k. check the electrics 1st and then attempt to start it, if you here any noise then begin to
do the engine tear down or change out. Do you have a winter where you live?
Do you have a place to take it apart and work on it or would a swap be better for you.
Just some thoughts, good luck and let us know was comes of this.

I would jump at the chance and go for a total strip and rebuild. Here it would cost approx £600.00 for all the parts needed. At least then you would know your engine and whats been done. Good luck
