I've had my bike act up after a washing where the #4 plug opening had filled up with some water from being sprayed. Once I dried it all out, everything was normal again.

If you can't afford 93 octane, you can't afford a sport bike. While yes the bike will run on 87 octane, it will also run with walmart motor oil in it. Doesn't mean it's a good friggen idea

We also don't have fuel injected bikes with high compression. The 93 octane is a waste on the F2 and is NOT the recommended octane for the bike. You are not going to achieve any special performance boost from it or any other property that makes wasting the higher octane for this model worthwhile. Unless something is wrong with your bike. These bike were designed for 87. Anything higher is just wasted fuel.

Here's additional information for you:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-e...question90.htm

Too Low of an Octane may result in engine knock (pre-ignition)
Too High and the fuel doesn't burn in time and will basically mess with your timing.

Furthermore...do you think your logic of spend more to get more is better than the engineers who designed our bikes who have years of experience and training in this field? Our bikes don't have high enough compression to benefit from using higher octane. It might smooth out the ride because of the inefficient burn but it's going to hurt performance. (however too high is better than too low... just right is optimal)

95 RON is the norm over here with 98 RON being the super option.

87 ? What sort of nonsense is that ;o)

Over the 15 tankfuls I've used since getting her 2 months ago I'm getting an average of 46.31mpg (imperial) with a low of 38.28 (having a blast ) and a high of 54.26 (sat on a motorway at a steady 85mph)

That's an average of 38.56 mpg (US) , low of 31.87 & high of 45.18

87 Anti-Knock Index (AKI) aka Pump Octane Number (PON)

86 to 87 AKI = 91 to 92 RON - Regular
89 to 90 AKI = 94 to 95 RON
90 to 94 AKI = 95 to 99 RON - Premium (Super in Europe)'
