Just bought this
Just picked this up. Real rough, but an easier project than most of the stuff I've done lately. It will be nice to work on something that's a little more straightforward. Besides, for 500 bucks I'm not risking much.
Plenty of pics when I tear it apart. It's been stored outside, the brakes are seized and the gas is spoiled. I have another bike ahead of it that I have to finish assembling (and sell) before I start on this. The guy gave me a bunch of new plastic with it but I'm going to sell that on eBay to offset some of the cost of buying it. I'm curious to see how little I can spend but still have something that's really road worthy. I might do some track days on it.
Mine passed road worthy about 100k ago.
I don't understand it, either. The guy didn't have a garage but instead of spending money on a shed he bought two Harley V-rods that are sitting out in the weather, too.
On the other hand, $500.00 bikes don't come from good owners.
On the other hand, $500.00 bikes don't come from good owners.
There is a lot of truth to that. I picked up a bike for free. The owner had been riding it on salted roads and it need some love.
At least it was being ridden. I know a guy who has a Suzuki Savage the he bought new and has ridden year-round in Massachussetts for 8-10 years. It's rusting into oblivion but you can't say it wasn't used.
