Default Jumping Out Of Gear Around 5K RPM

I'mjumping out of 1st and 2nd into neutralaround 5K rpms - other gears will ride right up the tach. Troubleshooting in the manual suggests that the shift fork might be bent. But I'm open toideas as to what else might be causing this before Ipop open the transmission and disable the bike for a while.

Anything else you guys think I should check out first?

There's no harm in riding it like this for a while, is there?

Thanks,

rey

You're probably going to have to pop it open either way.

One thing that comes to mind is the shift drum detent spring (the one that the "shift kit" replaces with a stiffer spring).

Yeah, but it'll probably be hard to do without taking the exhaust off.

It's a lot more fun when you can turn the engine upside down, too.

Hmm... Not exactly the news I was hoping to hear. This can wait a little while, right? I mean as long as I'm willing to deal with upshiftingearly thru 1 & 2, it's not technically making anything worse, is it?

No clue... I only have a basic understanding how how motorcycle transmissions work (I've replaced shift drums/linkages but no gears).

i've had the same problem with my f2, if you hold your foot up it stays in? everything is pointing at shift return spring as stated above on mine, but its a royal beotch to get to. i haven't tried yet, took the clutches out and said "mmm...maybe later".
