Wouldn't mind stretching my 1st and second gears, (even 2007 600RR's have to have a clutch dump to wheelie...).

1st gear is basically useless stock, unless you rev the hell out of it..

Doesn't do anything to the speedo or odometer on our F2's, we have a cable driven unit.

Best mod for the 600's though

+1 from me for the -1/+2

Anyone know if changing the sprockets effects how much gas mileage you get on the f2s? i am also debating on whether or notto change the stock gearing.

MT Wallet,
My chain and sprockets were worn so I figured I would do everything at once. The way I understand it is reducing the driveline weight is a good think for performance. I guess it is like putting on lighter wheels. Also save a couple lbs off the bike.

I got this from this site.. http://www.davidparis.org/daytona/520conv.html (not sure if 530 is the stock CBR chain or not).
I took it all out, and once the time came to do the task of the conversion, I first weighed each component of the 520 kit, and once I got the 530 stuff off, weighed that. A bit surprising numbers.

520
530

Chain
71.4 oz
78.5 oz

Rear Sprocket
10.4 oz
35.1 oz

Front Sprocket
6.8 oz
11 oz

Total
88.6 oz
124.6 oz
So, 36 oz total savings (2 1/4 pounds), or 29% over stock.
Wow that is a big difference for a simple thing like a chain!

Thanks for the great information. That will be one mod I will do when I have the time/money

I lost 20km's to my tank (used to get 200 before reserve, now only 180)

But I have been having problems with other things fuel related that may be adding to this, the fun factor and ease of driving in the city is well worth it in my opinion.
