Default Help with WindShield

Hey Guys,

Need some help please.....Got a new dark smoke windshield to replace the purple one on my F2. Got the mirrors off both sides and I got the right side plastic piece on the inside of the windshield off, it is held in place by one screw, you know which part I'm talking about right? it's like a plastic trim piece that goes on the inside next to the gauges on both sides....so that one was easy. So, I go to take off the one on the left side and guess what....the screw is stripped or something, all it does is turn and turn and does not back out, I turned it so much that the head is almost stripped, I can still get a screw driver on it and turn it, but it just wont back out. I've tried just about everything last night to get it out..... and nothing. Any one have any suggestions, if I could cut the head off somehow, dremmel tool or something, maybe I can get that trim piece off and then try to remove the screw. I dont want to have to break any plastic so any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Default RE: Help with WindShield

same thing happend to me bout a month ago when i was takin my plastics off to get em ready for paint. i took a drill and small drill bit, planning on drilling it out, but when i started to drill it the fitting that the screw went into spun out of the hole it was in. i guess im gonne have to just epoxy the sleeve that the screw goes into back into the hole in the fairing. wish i was at home to take some pics for you but im 2 hours away and wont be back for a couple weeks. i guess my advice is to try and drill out the screw...u might get lucky like i did and the entire sleeve will come out which is an easier fix than some of the other options.

Try gently pulling back on the piece as you turn. Just dont pull too hard or it will crack. If you have already got it out disregard this message.
