Default "Heat shield" placement help

Would anyone be able to tell me where this "heat shield" (as Honda calls it) goes on '94 F2 ? I have spent half the night trying to figure it out. Bike did not have one when we bought it (missing many, many parts).Would make sense if it somehow went behind radiator and over valve cover area, I guess, but not sure at all. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

Over the coils. The clips grab onto the metal bar so the top picture is right way up facing to the front of the bike.

Ok, thank you again ! Will try that when I get back to work. Did not think it could go with wide end to the front, due to throttle cables and air filter housing interference.

Hey Ed, I just don't see anyway this shield can be situated over coils. Both throttles cables are in the way and then the shield would cover tab where upper air filter housing nipple locates. It does obviously seem to be made to attach to the cross bar where the coils mount, but I can't even find a way to get it on there with bracket removed from rubber. I would toss the damn thing but I think it's purpose is to help block hot air from entering air filter housing intakes (and they need all the help they can get considering their location ! ) so I would like to figure this out. Would you have any pictures available ? I've scoured the service manual and parts diagrams and internet pics, and none helped.

Sorry to be a pain in the butt. Hope you don't go to too much trouble. I operate an auto repair shop for a living, and it kind of Tee's me off that I can't figure this out. I can't take for granted that anything is actually correct on this bike, as it was so cobbled when we got it. But I bought this shield thinking the bike needed it, and dammit, I hate to waste money !

So, that's memory for you. Your bottom picture is the right way up with the narrow end to the front.

It clips from underneath the bar and goes under the coils

Great, thank you ! That is the way that I tried and tried to make work, but it seems from your pics that the bracket on mine was attached to the wrong side of the shield. I thought that might be the case, but when I separated them, you could clearly see the indications in the rubber where the bracket had been on there for a long time. And there are absolutely no markings/wear patterns on the other side. So this thing must have set on a shelf for 20 years assembled incorrectly ! This crap only happens to me ! Well, I am off this morning to a motorcycle salvage yard in Huron, Ohio to pick up a couple more items for this project, and then we will be on the home stretch. My son painted all the needed body pieces last week, and he is getting pretty excited to see it all together. Thanks again for all your help.

Sorry I gave you the wrong info first time round.

We want pics when you've finished :-)
