Hi guys, i am thinking of changing my clipons to handlebars on my 94F2 due to old age and arms pain...
I live in Greece and the cheapest kit i found is a Spiegler kit from Germany for 250€ + shiping ! The kit looks nice and its complete with new brake and cluch lines.
But a buddy of mine insists of drilling the triple t and putting a set of risers from a dirt bike, since it will cost much less.

My question is: has anyone done such a conversion ie drilling the plate? Is it safe to do it this way?

And how much longer the new brake and cluch lines should be?

If i do it this way i will be using a 75cm long bar with a 11cm rise on it + the risers.

Lol te dirt bike route sounds cheaper but depends on your type of riding. Honestly I rode a crotch rocket with dirties (dirt bike bars) and it was so cumfy and stable. Especially with wheelies. But if your obsessed with turning low stay with the clipons

 

I think it would be cool if you could have both, and I don't mean the convertibles. It would be a wiring and cable nightmare but I bet some whack job will try it sooner or later. Oh nigejo!!

 

Just got the Spiegler kit.
I cant wait to fit it on the bike.
The kit came with 2 brake lines but i am pretty sure i will be needing a longer clutch cable...Will know about this when i put everything on the new handlebar.

I got the Spiegler kit for my F2 forks and hated the constant Vibration you get with 1" bars. So on my Gsxr fork conversion I drilled the plate and put KTM 1 1/8th mounts with Renthal bars and viola no vibration even with out the stupid bar ends. I prefer the Renthals to the cheap & quick job the Spiegler kit did and wouldn't recommend it to anybody. The bars are cheap steel and see how once laid down they will be done or the mounts will snap.
Clutch lines need 5" inches more and brakes lines about 3" inches more. It can be easily done for under $175 if you shop around.
