funny smell

Default funny smell

i think its my clutch. i can smell it as soon as i start the bike even driving down the highway its still there.i did not i can ride it two block and the clutch cover gets hot enough it will burn u and then the rest of te mottor is warm. and help would be great. thanks

On one hand, you probably don't change your oil enough. On the other hand, F2's were quickly left for newer riders, and many of them still have their original clutches and 30,000+ miles of n00b abuse.

Changing the clutch on these bikes is easy. A full kit runs about $160, a gasket $20, and swapping the whole thing out is mindless. The clutch after that is friggen amazing. It just grabs and goes with ease!

i had a full service done on it when i bought it.and it had 27thousand on it i have maybe put 700 miles on it since then.and i upgraded the header and rejeted it right after the sevice. they changed all the fluid. a buddy of mine works at that shop and he was there when the changed all of it

Ah, well some one before you probably neglected the clutch then. Either way, it's probably toast.

Clutch kits are cheap and easy to install.

OR... could be that the clutch is adjusted very badly so that it is slightly engaged while riding and therefore rubbing and building heat.... is there a bit of free-play at the leaver? Could be that easy (adjust the clutch) but could also easily be a toast clutch as stated above.
