So I had a fuel leak on my 92 600 at a very small old filter on the tee which I replaced with a large oem one and new hose. I’ve had to loop the hose down towards the engine then loop it back round and up to the tee because the filter is quite big. The fuel is filling up the filter but it’s not getting to the carbs? Thanks don’t think my model had a pump so if it’s gravity fed will the loop below the carbs stop the fuel from being pulled in? Bike ran great before I stripped it all. I cleaned our my tank while I was at it there was a lot of rust in there but that’s sorted.

It sounds like the fuel pump has been deleted. if that's the case I'd suggest having everything positioned in such a manner that you take full advantage of gravity. If you have a loop in your line that may be hurting you. Also if you cleaned out your tank due to rust, I'd double check your petcock fuel strainer and the rest of your line as it's possible you have some rust in there somewhere.

That should be fine as it pertains to gravity. Try reversing your filter.

 

The tank is raised a bit there. You can see fuel in the bottom of that filter If you look closely. It does have an arrow on it pointing at the engine…

 

Well then, never mind. What happens if you remove the hose from the tee? How does the flow look then?

 

Looks like fuel is not reaching the fuel filter. I would expect it to be completely filled with fuel. It seems that the petcock is not receiving any/enough vacuum to open it fully. Do you have a vacuum pump you can attach to the nipple on the petcock? That will tell you 2 things. Is the petcock leaking (not holding a vacuum) and is the petcock actually opening and allowing fuel to flow when it does have vacuum.

Is that picture a mirror image? The petcock looks like it's on the wrong side.

 

The previous owner had fitted a new Petcock but not fitted it very well, that is how it was when I got it. Nothing comes out when the hose is off it only comes through when it’s pulled through I thought it should just pour out when it’s open? Is that wrong?

 

It should come out pretty freely. What happens if you open your fuel tank cap?

 

I’ll try that when I get home and let you know I’m just having a Sunday dinner. Battery is on charge I ran it flat. It was running sweet before I stripped it
